The Craft Room
Union craft workers who come to work for Cherne find many good things about the work environment. Cherne treats its people right, and provides an orderly workplace with all of the tools, equipment and information needed to accomplish daily and weekly goals on a consistent basis. If you come to work for us you can expect:
- A well organized work site free of recognized hazards
- A respectful environment, and an effective way of dealing with interpersonal problems as they arise, along with firm, yet fair, enforcement of project work rules in a non-discriminating manner
- Adequate tools and equipment and the training to use them safely and efficiently, as well as materials available when they are needed
- Adequate staffing for the work to be done, including placing the proper talents where required
- A good work plan, and current engineering information that supports the work plan, provided to you in a timely way
Our expectations of you as craftspeople include:
- Working safely and bringing unsafe conditions to the attention of your supervisor
- Maintaining a drug free work site through compliance with the Cherne Substance Abuse Policy
- Contributing to the achievement of project goals to the fullest of your ability
- Arriving on time and productively working all scheduled time during the course of each shift, scheduling your time away from work in advance with your supervisor
- Following all project work rules
- Treating others with respect including fellow workers, management, Cherne staff and client representatives
- Mentoring apprentices
