Project Execution

Cherne uses proprietary project management tools and a disciplined, detail oriented approach to project planning and execution to ensure the success of each project. We make sure that each project has the leadership, technical expertise, tools and information needed to facilitate top notch performance.

We bring a highly experienced team of management personnel to lead each project. If we don't have a core team of experienced Cherne staff that we can dedicate to a project, we won't bid the work, because it is important to us to be positive that we can deliver consistent and excellent performance on every project we undertake.

Our project managers, responsible to oversee all project construction activities, average over 25 years of tenure with our company. Our superintendents come to each project with an average of a decade of Cherne experience. These superintendents drive accountability through setting daily and weekly expectations and clearly communicating them to the union craftspeople, and then following through to be sure the expectations are consistently being met.

Cherne field engineers have worked with us for seven plus years on average, and are responsible for developing detailed work packages which guide project sequencing and provide accurate technical information to allow the union craftspeople to work productively.

Other staff include experienced and credentialed safety and quality personnel, who help establish work practices, provide training, and measure performance against safety and quality standards. Our field management teams don't sit in their office and ask the craft foremen to make the decisions and run the work – they are actively involved, and visibly present on the site every step of the way.

As a national union-only contractor we are able to attract trained union craftspeople from around the country to augment the local bench when needed. Our union craftspeople become partners with us in striving to meet the commitments we make to our clients in terms of productivity, safety, schedule and quality.
