AvailabilityAll requests for tools and equipment are processed at Cherne’s 40,000 square foot equipment maintenance facility. By using centralized personnel who specialize in the procurement and management of construction tools and equipment, Cherne is able to relieve jobsite personnel of the time consuming and disruptive tasks associated with vendor solicitations, visits, abstracts and expediting. In addition, the equipment management personnel have developed a nationwide awareness of tool and equipment vendors enabling them to ensure timely delivery in a cost effective manner, regardless of whether the items are being procured or rented.
In order to
assist the jobsite in
the requisitioning of tools and equipment, Cherne maintains several predefined
tool packages, some of which are listed below:
| • | Pre configured and equipped instrument and insulation trailers |
| • | Pre filled welder boxes |
| • | Pre filled foreman boxes by craft |
Use of these packages ensures that all of the required tools are easily ordered and readily available. In addition to common construction tools and equipment, Cherne maintains an inventory of specialty items to serve any unique project needs.
Information regarding safe tool usage and new tools and techniques are routinely transferred between the equipment management personnel and the jobsites.
The equipment management team strives to provide the appropriate tools and equipment at the required time, allowing jobsite personnel to concentrate on the management of craft labor and allowing craft labor to concentrate on the task at hand.
