Construction Field Engineers

The field engineer at Cherne performs in a hands-on work environment providing essential interface between project management and craft labor to ensure the construction effort is performed in accordance with contract specifications. Field engineers function in several disciplines including mechanical/piping, electrical, instrumentation, civil, insulation and rigging.

Specific responsibilities include:
Planning - Lay out the sequence of work for piping, wiring, insulation, instrumentation or civil/structural segment of the project.
Preparing - Put together work packages and work lists for assigned craft. Requisition materials, hardware, consumables and other supplies.
Monitoring - Conduct walk downs of systems to verify completed work and update project controls.
Follow-up - Research and resolve problems relating to drawing interpretations, conflicts, interference and the like. Serve as technical go-to person as questions arise.

Education
We require at least a two-year technical degree for these positions. BA or BS in construction or a similar field is preferred.

Experience
Hands-on field construction/engineering experience in the petro-chemical, power, paper or other industrial sectors is preferred.
